Where do the rates come from, and how current are they?
Cambiora uses the reference rates of the European Central Bank (ECB). The ECB publishes them on business days in the afternoon; on weekends and holidays the last rate remains valid.
- Other currencies as well as gold, silver and platinum come from currency-api once a day.
- Cryptocurrencies come live from Coinbase and are updated every 60 seconds while the app is open.
The app always shows how current the rates are, with date and time.
Does Cambiora work without internet?
Yes. Cambiora stores the last loaded rates on your device. Converting and calculating work on a plane, without roaming or with no signal. As soon as you are back online, the app fetches new rates.
Only the very first launch needs an internet connection, to load the rates.
Why does my bank or card show a different amount?
Cambiora uses the mid-market rate. Banks, card issuers and exchange offices use their own rate with a margin and often charge a foreign transaction fee. To get closer to the amount on your statement:
- Fee markup (Pro): In Settings → Exchange rates → Fee markup, set a percentage and your home currency. Cambiora adds it to every conversion between your home currency and a foreign currency.
- Custom rate (Pro): In Settings → Exchange rates → Custom rates, enter the rate you got for a currency, for example at a currency exchange office.
What does Cambiora Pro include, and what does it cost?
Cambiora is free to use without ads. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. You see the price in the store and in the app. Pro unlocks, among other things:
- as many currencies at once as you like (free: up to three)
- scanning prices with the camera
- home screen widgets
- rate history up to five years (free: up to three months)
- five color themes

New phone: how do I get Pro back?
Pro is tied to your store account, i.e. your Google account or your Apple ID. Sign in with the same account on the new device, install Cambiora and tap Settings → Cambiora Pro → Restore purchase.
A purchase on Google Play does not carry over to the App Store, and vice versa.
How do I add a widget to my home screen?
Widgets come with Cambiora Pro, on Android for now. The conversion widget shows an amount in up to three currencies, the rate widget shows the rate of a currency pair with its trend.
- Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen and choose Widgets.
- Search for Cambiora and drag the widget you want to your home screen.
- Choose the currencies and tap Add widget.
Each widget has its own currencies. The rates update about once an hour.
I found a bug. What should I do?
Write to us at contact@cambiora.com. An error report from the app helps most: Settings → About → Error reports → Send by email.
Cambiora stores error reports on your device only and never sends anything by itself. You can see the text before you send the email. If there is no report, briefly describe what you did and tell us your device and the app version (under Settings → About).
